Journalism

I have been working as a journalist for over 25 years, primarily in music and the music industry.

Complete Music Update

I am editor of CMU – or Complete Music Update to give it its full name. We generally just say CMU. It’s quicker. Although not if you spend ages explaining it like this.

Joining the company in 2008, I became editor the following year. My main role is to oversee production of our news and features content, published every weekday in the CMU Daily email and on our website. I also co-present, produce and edit a weekly music business podcast, Setlist.

In this role I oversee completemusicupdate.com and all its various outputs, including its flagship music business news bulletin CMU Daily. See my most recent articles here.

In addition to the editorial content that I am in charge of, CMU has training and consultancy departments, and also regularly runs events for music industry professionals and independent musicians.

Freelance journalism

I also work for other outlets on a freelance basis, with work published by publications including GQ, Wired, MTV Japan, ThreeWeeks, Margate Mercury, and more.
